Confirmation

Confirmation is a sacrament of initiation in the church through which the baptized person is sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened to go out and serve others. Those being confirmed choose a confirmation name in order to symbolize their identity as disciples of Christ who are ready to go out and live their faith boldly. During the sacrament, the candidate is anointed with the oil of chrism as a sign of their consecration to Christ. Confirmation increases baptismal grace and strengthens the gifts of the Holy Spirit. A confirmation sponsor who is a Catholic in good standing is also selected for the sacrament.

Bishop Thomas has decreed 8th grade as the normative age for Confirmation for all parishes of the Diocese of Toledo. 8th graders in 2025 will be Confirmed Saturday, March 8th at 10:00a.m. Please contact Megan Vina for more information about Confirmation at 419.433.5725 or youngadults@stpetershuron.org
