Eucharist

The sacrament of the Eucharist is a sacrament of initiation in the Catholic Church. Catholics believe that the Eucharist truly is the body and blood of Christ himself. Although, it still looks like bread and wine, it truly becomes the Real Presence or actual body and blood of Jesus. The priest stands in the place of Christ at mass and when he prays the words of consecration, “This is my body” and “This is my blood,” that is truly what it becomes. For Catholics, the Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life. Catholics are obligated to go to mass every Sunday and on certain special holy days throughout the year.

Generally first Eucharist is received by children when they are in second grade at the age of seven. Children must be enrolled in our Catholic school or PSR program in order to receive First Eucharist or Communion. Children must complete first grade PSR before they will be permitted to enroll in our second grade PSR class. This year First Communion for second grade students is Sunday May 4, 2025 at 10:30 AM. Adults wishing to receive first Eucharist must take adult preparation classes beforehand.
